A wonderful example of a stock condition Metropolitan - driven ~40 miles a week, basically between my garage and my airport' s parking garage. Church, groceries, yes.Lumber, piping and sheetrock, not exactly...... Numbers matching (chassis E25495 and engine 1H 144424), built in July 1956 timeframe at the same location all Mets were made: Birmingham, England from 1953 to 1961. All systems are good to very good - solid and quiet driving - smooth shifting - confident braking. Overall, body is well-above average - couple of porous spots not seen when driving, at the corners of the door openings and common area above left rear leaf spring rear shackle mount where fender well meets frame. No body strength concerns at all. Headliner is new and perfect. Upholstery is top quality. Reproduction carpets are good but are a bit flimsy. As with all Mets, there have been dozens and dozens of new parts over the 14 years that I can trace back through. And despite what people tell you, you could put tens of thousands of $$ into a restoration and these hardtops are still only a $8-10K vehicle. That' s it. Several items I' ve done in my tenure: returned the chassis number (VIN) on the titlework to be the 100% correct VIN as seen stamped in the pics (had previously been given a generated 10-digit VIN in its past) and is now a clear NC title in my namenew wing mirrorsnew door window whiskers and interior door handles (stronger repro design)re-chromed the bumper assembliespainted the rims to match the bodysaved the original (!) amber taillight lens and installed new red onesnew clutch master and new clutch slave, hose and pushrodinstalled a small temp gauge using the factory plug location and an existing screw under the dashrelocated the horn function back to the original steering wheel locationset the valves and timing where they should beinstalled a proper clear fuel filter underneathnew fuel flex line at pump suctionrestored radio functionality by grafting an AM/FM radio and a new 4x6" speaker in the stock locationinstalled a hidden Pollak kill switch to do two things: 1) make working on the electrical a lot safer and 2) make theft a near impossibility.... Lucas electrical system like the day it was born but with polarity reversed (now negative earth). Heater, wipers, lights, signals all fine. Fuel gauge just stopped working in April - haven' t had time but normally a dash connection rather than the sender. Parts for Mets are thankfully very, very easy to find. I have hundreds of $$ in spare parts that will go with it - all manuals, new rebuild kits for the fuel pump and carbuetor, a complete new exhaust system from manifold to tailpipe, etc, etc. We' re moving west this summer and the Met - along with my other projects - are heading to the sales block. Thanks for looking and best of luck in your quest for a Met!On May-10-15 at 11:31:07 PDT, seller added the following information: In my effort to honestly describe any areas of concern, I had a few questions on the door opening corners. I probably made the corners sound worse than they really are: three out of four are really just chipped paint over the repaints it appears to have had. The only real area of porosity is the passenger side front corner, but again it looks passivated by paint and appears to have been left over from body work. All others are just fine.
